General Questions

What is a vehicle service contract?
Also, sometimes known as a warranty, a vehicle service contract is a plan that can be purchased by a consumer that will cover the costs of repair, parts, labor, and/or sales tax for certain repairs or replacements. They work very similarly to the manufacturer warranty that comes with most new vehicles.
Why are your prices lower than what dealers are offering?
We cut out the middleman. When dealerships purchase coverage plans from providers, they then turn around and sell them to drivers like you, adding a $700-$1000 mark up to boost the dealer’s profits. When you buy directly through a provider like Safeguard, you can save up to 50% of the cost on your service contract.

Can I really take my vehicle anywhere for repairs?
Yes, you really can choose any dealer, national chain, or local mechanic to perform the repairs on your vehicle with this service plan! Nothing changes for you! You go right back to the same shop you have always used.

How are repair claims paid?
This is one of the best aspects of being a Safeguard Auto customer. Claims are simple. Bring the vehicle to the repair facility of your choice, present your membership information to the service professional, and they will contact claims FOR YOU! We’ll pay for any covered repairs via our company credit card over the phone. All you pay is your deductible.
There is no paperwork, or reimbursement.

How do deductibles work?
Each repair visit, no matter how many items need to be fixed will only require payment of one deductible.

Do I really need an extended auto warranty?
We know that being a protected driver is a more confident one. When the inevitable need for a repair finally happens, you will need coverage!
Your vehicle is a big investment. You likely spent a lot of money to acquire it. The longer it stays in great working condition, the more value you get from your investment. Vehicle service contracts are designed to protect your investment by keeping your vehicle in good, driveable shape without you having to incur a lot of extra repair costs.

Do you offer payment plans?
Because our top priority is to make sure you are covered, we also make it a priority to make it budget friendly. We offer same as cash payment plans that are custom fitted for your budget. No plan is the same. We listen to your needs and we always want to make sure you walk away feeling comfortable with your monthly payment. No matter which monthly plan you choose, we will cover those expensive repairs regardless if your plan is paid in full.

Why buy vehicle service contract now? Especially if I still have a manufacturer warranty.
Just like health insurance or life insurance, the better shape your vehicle is in when you obtain coverage, the better your rates and pricing will be. It actually costs less to extend the warranty on a newer vehicle in tip-top shape than it does for an older vehicle that is now needing repairs. By buying today, you lock in the costs of an extended warranty plan now, while your vehicles at its best, as well as lock in this year’s current labor rates.

Does my extended coverage have a waiting period?
Unfortunately, all extended warranties/vehicle service contracts have a waiting period. These are put in place to ensure that your vehicle is running properly and that there are zero pre-existing issues. Since we do not provide physical inspections, this allows us to keep the costs down, and provide you with a much cheaper policy.

It is simple, we consider your first 30 days as a review period. We ask each customer to take the time and read over the policy in full. We are confident that you, like so many other Americans, will be satisfied with your coverage.
